White's Surfmaster PI? Is this the first model of the Surfmaster PI? What might it be worth? Any pros or cons of this detector would be greatly appreciated. Unless you plan on sending it to White's, I wouldn't buy it. That looks like the older case that used the black o-ring.

I just recieved my new Whites surfmaster dual field pi yesterday,I took it out today for a test run at the local beach. After reading many reviews and doing a lot of research on this machine before I baught it..after todayI realised that the depth was very poor.for a detector with a huge coil it really was disapointing.

Just to add to what Stu said, I have the original Whites Surfmaster PI detector which has undergone quite a lot of developments and updates over the years ( I worked out at least 6 once) the Surf PI Pro that Stu uses was a later one and the latest is the Surf Dual Field PI.

I use the whites duel field pi, when I find a deep target I get a very slight whisper in the threshold. (ghost signal) As you dig down towards the target you then get a clearer response. I find this goes for extremely small finds also.

OR just tie a nylon filled with sand on the shaft. Coil is lightweight for the dry. You can find the surfmaster with the zero buoyancy coil. Just be patient and keep looking.
